Dane Huguley closed Cafe|Bar a little over a month ago, but with a promise to reopen the neighborhood eatery with a new name and identity. His idea was an inexpensive, neighborhood taco joint with striking murals and simple food. Huguley’s new restaurant, Grey Cactus Cocina Bar, is now open and serving margaritas, tacos and other Mexican fare from chef Chris Scott.
“If it doesn’t fit in a food truck,” states the owner, “it doesn’t belong here. There’s nothing over $10 on the menu.”

The space that housed Cafe Bar for three years is now a modern Mexican taqueria.

Here’s a look inside the new Grey Cactus Cocina Y Bar, a casual and modern Mexican taqueria that is now open at 295 South Pennsylvania. The space formerly housed Cafe Bar, a contemporary eatery owned by Dane Huguley.

Grey Cactus Cocina Y Bar is open seven nights a week for dinner and on for brunch on weekends.

The former Cafe Bar is now a modern Mexican cantina.

In October, Dane Huguley closed the doors to his three year old Cafe Bar in Wash Park. Last weekend, Grey Cactus Y Cocina Bar, a casual modern Mexican cantina, launched in the same space at 295 South Pennsylvania.

Huguley brought in chef Christopher Scott who spent the last two years cooking at Z Cuisine and the years before at Vert Kitchen, to run the cooking operations. Scott is excited to bring “affordable and fun Mexican food to the neighborhood.” To create his menu, he tapped into knowledge from cooking lessons he took with local Mexican cooks and culinary experiences he had while traveling in Guadalajara, Mexico.
